Production

Production operator

You run the machine and own its first line of defence: you see the abnormality first, and the quality of what you record decides whether anyone can fix it.

Routine

Daily

  • Start-of-shift check before the first cycle
  • First-piece check after start-up or changeover
  • Record every stop over the agreed threshold with a reason code
  • Hand over open issues in writing

Weekly

  • 5S check of your own zone
  • Clean-inspect-lube round (autonomous maintenance)

Monthly+

  • Review your skills sign-off and pending trainings

KPIs you are measured on

Quality rate

Good units made right first time divided by total units produced.

Formula Quality = Good count ÷ Total count

Top pains and how to handle them

Stop reasons end up as 'other' or 'misc'

Use a short reason tree agreed with maintenance (max 10–12 codes) and write one free-text line for anything unusual.

Handover is verbal and gets lost

Use a written handover with three fixed blocks: safety, quality, open actions with owner.

Checks become a tick-box habit

Keep checklists short, with pictures and limits; anything out of limit stops and escalates, not just a tick.
