Environmental officer

You track what the site takes in and puts out: energy, water, chemicals, waste and emissions, and make sure the significant environmental aspects are controlled. This role also covers waste management. Tools here support, but do not replace, a competent person's assessment; follow your local regulations.

Top pains and how to handle them

Waste numbers come only from invoices

Weigh or count at source per stream, so you can see which area creates which waste.

The aspects register is written once and forgotten

Review it when processes, materials or obligations change, and at least once a year.

Emission factors are copied without a source

Record the source and year of every factor, and prefer your supplier's or your country's published values.
